PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

is a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma.

This event may involve the threat of death to oneself or to someone else, or to one's own or someone else's physical, sexual, or psychological integrity, overwhelming the individual's ability to cope.

Diagnostic symptoms for PTSD include re-experiencing the original trauma(s) through flashbacks or nightmares, avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma, and increased arousal such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, anger, and hyper-vigilance.

We have seen amazing results with EFT for PTSD. Because the anxiety associated with PTSD is so intense, the resulting calm makes for a very dramatic contrast. Frequently the client is (pleasantly) in disbelief with regards to their lack of feeling towards how unbearable and debilitating it had been for them.

It's not a question of removing or blocking the memories, but removing the intensity of emotions associated with the memory and all its triggers. The sooner treated, the faster clients can return to normal without turning to alcohol, or drugs to shut out the surges of anger, fear, panic, or depression.

The Iraq Vets Stress Project offers returning vets Energy Psychology, a method which many therapists and coaches are using to help veterans with PTSD to get their lives back. EFT is the most widely-used Energy Psychology method.
